Halima Ferreira

How it all began

I’m Halima, a Chef, Health Coach, Holistic Nutritionist and Detox specialist with over 20years of experience in the food industry.

I’m passionate about food and practical about health and nutrition so like to take a holistic approach, grounded in science. However, I didn’t always have this approach; I had to go on my own personal health journey that led me down this path.

My goal is to inspire you to make healthy living attainable and achievable every day in a practical and approachable manner.

WHAT STARTED AS A VISION - A GLIMMER IN ITS FOUNDER’S EYE, BECAME A REALITY IN MAY 2015 WHEN TAILORED TASTE WAS CREATED BY TALENTED PRIVATE CHEF, HALIMA FERREIRA.

A lover of all things foodie, Halima’s lifelong affair with food can be traced all the way back to her childhood living in Southern Africa and the important role cooking within her family took in influencing her career. As with many Portuguese families food was at the centre of her home, and Halima relished the time helping her parents and grandmother create aromatic and delightful dishes
full of tradition and prepared with loving care.

Having spent the first nine years of her life in Malawi, south-east Africa before moving to KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Halima went on to graduate from high school whilst reflecting on her life choices and chosen career path. But was there really any doubt where her passions would take her?

Whilst it may well be every father’s fundamental duty to show their children by example, the kind of people they want them to become, this was certainly true with Halima. Heavily influencing her decision to complete culinary school, the support and encouragement Halima received, not only from her father but mother also, is significant in her success today as a private chef. This is especially true as Halima’s father passed away not long after she completed her course and she dedicates a large part of her cheffing journey to her beloved father and his unwaivering belief in her abilities in the kitchen

WHAT STARTED AS A VISION - A GLIMMER IN ITS FOUNDER’S EYE, BECAME A REALITY IN MAY 2015 WHEN TAILORED TASTE WAS CREATED BY TALENTED PRIVATE CHEF, HALIMA FERREIRA.

As a newly qualified chef Halima jetted off to Europe and from there worked her way across the globe from Alaska to Tokyo and Bahrain to name just a few of the countries she visited and worked in. There were many highlights along the way, such as working under Michel Roux Senior aboard Celebrity’s Millennium cruise ship’s Olympic restaurant. Each new challenge opened another door into the culinary world. Next came a prestigious contract for Halima as private chef to a VIP family in Bahrain, seeing her tick off most of her culinary dreams so far.

All this international experience in fast paced, high pressure jobs has led Halima to focusing solely on Tailored Taste, her own personal and private chef consultancy. A dream come true. Halima believes every dish should be delicious, yet nutritious – a taste experience, leaving you happy, satisfied and looking forward to your next culinary delight. Tailored Taste has raised the bar when it comes to reflecting the standards people expect and more importantly deserve when it comes to eating delicious dishes.
