How it all began and what its all about...
Tailored Taste began with a vision, a handful of feisty, feminine spirit and a lofty objective: to offer bespoke, fresh and innovative dishes that complement the lifestyles of those desiring them. And so, after many years in the food and chef industry, Tailored Taste was borne! And what a wonderful journey it has been.
Now the vision may well have began many years ago as a glimmer in its founder’s eye, but those ambitious thoughts became a reality in May 2015 when Tailored Taste was created by talented personal and private chef, Halima Ferreira.
A lover of things foodie, Halima’s lifelong love affair with food can be traced all the way back to her childhood living in Africa and the important role cooking within the home took in influencing her career. As with many Portuguese families, family food was the centre of her home and Halima relished the time helping her father, mother and grandmother to create aromatic and delightful dishes full of tradition and prepared with familial care.
Having lived in Malawi, Central Africa for the first nine years of her life before moving to Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, Halima went on to graduate from high school where she had time to reflect on her life choices and dwell upon her chosen career path.
Now it may well be every father’s most fundamental duty to show their children, by example, the kind of people they want them to become but this was most certainly true with Halima. Heavily influencing her decision to complete culinary school, the support and encouragement Halima received from not only her father, but mother, too is significant in her success as a private and personal chef. This is especially true as Halima’s father passed away not long after she completed her course and so she dedicates a large part of her cheffing journey to her beloved father and his never waiving belief in her abilities and capabilities in the kitchen. Halima says:
‘I looked up to my father, and craved his admiration, his respect and his affection. Our bond with food was ingrained in us and I truly believe that our fantastic father-daughter relationship has helped me achieve my dreams as a successful personal chef’.
After graduating, Halima jetted off to Europe and has since enjoyed working across the globe in far flung destinations such as Alaska, Tokyo and Bahrain, to name just a few. What’s more, working aboard luxury cruise liners including under the direction of Michel Roux within the Millennium’s Olympic restaurant, venturing into every aspect of the culinary world and landing an amazing contract for a HNW family in Bahrain where she worked as Private Chef to a VIP Family in the Persian Gulf, for example, Halima has pretty much ticked off all of her culinary dreams to date.
With many years of experience in fast paced, high pressure careers, Halima has spent a lot of her life getting to the point of running her own personal and private chef services across the United Kingdom. Being at the point of being able to focus solely on Tailored Taste really is a dream come true for Halima.
Her ‘mission statement’ has always been to cater to the discerning customer through combining a high priority on customer service with delicious, mouth watering and quality dishes that reflect high aspiration. Halima believes that every dish should be delicious yet nutritious and enjoyable, too. Whatever the occasion, be it a birthday celebration, engagement, corporate event or romantic meal for two, Halima believes that your experience should leave you feeling happy, satisfied and looking forward to your next culinary delight. Not surprisingly, Tailored Taste have risen the bar when it comes to reflecting the standards people expect, and more importantly, deserve when it comes to eating delicious dishes.
And that’s exactly what Halima has achieved.
